Beaufort Street Merchant - Dinner

Hey everyone!!! I'm back!!! I'm FINALLY done with exams. Even though it's only been one week, it feels like it has been FOREVaahhhh!!! I have hated the last 2 weeks of my life and I can't wait to go back to Singapore tomorrow!

I know we have blogged about the Beaufort Street Merchant before, but this was the first time that I ever went there for dinner and it was sooooo delicious and satisfying, I would definitely go back again! (and I did...lol!)

Anyhoos~!!! Cass, Sarah and myself met up in the daytime and we wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner at night. We didn't really have anything in mind but decided to just try to walk around Mount Lawley to find something to eat. Unfortunately, nothing else seemed appealing, so we ended up eating at the Beaufort Street Merchant, which was great! yay!

We decided to each order one item and then share it with one another.

Sarah's lamb ravioli! Omg, I just checked the menu on the website and I think this item has disappeared from the menu. :/ If any of you happen to know whether they are still serving this, please let us know, thanks!
Anyway, the dish was very appetizing and super tasty. I'm not a big fan of lamb, but the lamb was absolutely delicious and did not have the normal "lamb-y" taste and smell to it! Haha.

That's Sarah with her dish! Sorry the photos are all a little blur, it was so difficult to take photos there because of the lighting! :/

I don't think I managed to get a good picture of what Cass ordered! :(:( But anyway, it was a steak sandwich...which..GUESS WHAT, has disappeared from their menu too! I think they just updated their menu not long ago and all the dishes we ordered have disappeared...so this blog entry is kind of useless..haha! But at least what I ordered is still on the menu. yay!

Coq Au Vin Pie - AUD$29.50
hearty peasant pie, slow cooked chicken coq au vin,
bacon, red wine, mash

This was absolutely absolutely 100% yummy and I loved every bit of it, in fact I'm salivating now just thinking of it. lol. The pastry was buttery, light and fluffy.  The chicken inside was so moist and flavourful...and don't even get me started on the sauce and the mash! I really really loveeeee the mash so much. It was ultra buttery and yums and went along so well with the pie and the sauce at the side. This dish deserves two thumbs up!
Anyway, I loved this dish so much, that the second time I went back, I ordered the exact same thing! LOL! You can call me a creature of habit :D

That's me with maaaa pie!

So anyway, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and all the dishes were really good so we loved them all! We were sooo full after eating our main courses, but couldn't leave without having dessert!

This was the the chocolate Jaffa pudding which I had actually tried on a previous occasion and it was SOOO good. Unfortunately, that night, the pudding fell below my expectations. When I had tried it the previous time, the chocolate had oozed out like a lava cake, but I think that they left it in the oven for too long this time around, so the pudding just tasted more puddingy. LOL. Perhaps this was how it was actually supposed to be!

Anyway...tadah! yumssss!!!

I am so depressed and angry...because they have ALSO taken this away from the menu!! Why are they taking away all their nice dishes??? SO STRANGE and ANNOYING! But thankfully, they seem to have replaced it with other stuff that sound really yummy as well!

ooh yes, just to add, when I went back the second time, we also ordered...

The Angus Fillet Mignon, AUD$35
bacon wrapped 220g angus fillet, potato & leak gratin, mushroom jus
It was really tender and the bacon wrapped around it, gave it the extra kick! But I still think that if I go back I will order my coq au vin pie also known as a chicken pie. Am I crazy  for paying $30 for a chicken pie? ahh well, at least it comes with mash potato too. hahahahaha.

Hope you are going to have a lovely Sunday and great week ahead. Love you guys!

The Meal:
Think I've said enough for you guys to know that I think its fantastic! Love how they put in a lot of effort into the presentation of the dishes as well!

The Ambience:
Really like the ambience at the Beaufort Street Merchant both in the day and the night. It has a really different feel to it! In the day it's more lively and "happening", but at night there is a really nice cosy feel to it that is really warm and inviting. Think it would actually be a really good place for a date! But it's also such a nice place to catch up with your friends and have a nice drink or dessert. The only downside of the cosy atmosphere are the lousy photos evident from this blog post! haha. But that's just my camera's fault!

The Service:
The service was definitely on the slow side, but still it was worth the wait! On top of that, the waitresses were all very nice and were pretty efficient and tried their best to accommodate us/our requests. We were initially sitting outside but wanted to get some of the inside "atmosphere", so we requested to sit inside. It was pretty full at that time, but the waitress made sure that once there was an available table, she would shift us inside :) Think the wait staff are all well trained and always are polite to the customers!

Overall:
On the whole, I had a really enjoyable time at the Beaufort Street Merchant. It was a wonderful night with great food, great service and great company! :):) I will certainly head back there once again!

Wild Honey Part 2 - Scotts Square

Hello everyone!!! Today I went to Wild Honey at Scotts Square to chill! So I'm just going to show you some photos of the place!

I love the outlet at Scotts Square more than the one at Mandarin Gallery because:

1. We are allowed to make reservations
2. The service staff takes our orders so we don't have to order at the counter
3. There are proper menus
4. The place is much bigger and prettier
5. There is an alfresco dining area

This post is going to be a picture heavy post!

The outside of Wild Honey

Their menu - I don't really like how it's put together. It's not very user friendly. I'd prefer a classic menu.

We chose to sit at the alfresco area, which was lovely!

Pretty tiles on the floor

I love the colour scheme!

But after awhile, we shifted indoors so that I could take photos of the interior of Wild Honey!

We weren't hungry, so we only ordered coffee and a cupcake!

GD's latte looks happy!

And guess what, this time round I didn't order my usual latte, but a Cappuccino instead and it was very good!

This cupcake on the other hand was kind of a disappointment. I'm not being biased here but it was kinda dry  :(

GD enjoying his latte.

I really like how all the couches, chairs, sofas are covered different kinds of fabric!

They really nailed the interior design!

Reading magazines provided by Wild Honey.

Decorative plates hanging on the wall!

Okay that's all! Hope you enjoyed looking at the photos! (:

The Meal:
In short, the coffee was awesome (as usual), but the cupcake was not.

The Ambience:
Lovely lovely lovely place!

The Service:
Very good service. I don't know if its because there were only 4 patrons (including us) in the cafe, haha.

Overall:
I'd definitely go back to the outlet at Scotts Sqaure. Actually, I don't even think I'd go back to the Mandarin Gallery one anymore. LOL!

6 Scotts Road, 3rd Floor

Wild Honey - Mandarin Gallery

Hi guys! Sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything! I did Lasik on Sat (yay!)  and I didn't want to stare into my laptop screen for too long a time so this post has been delayed!

GD's birthday just passed and we celebrated it quietly (LOL)! On the actual day itself, the both of us just chilled and spent the day together.

We went for brunch/lunch at Wild Honey. Well it was supposed to be brunch/lunch but I was late (because I was baking him a mini cake) and it ended up being a late lunch. In the end, we arrived at Wild Honey at about 3pm! (Opps!!!)

One good thing about going there at 3pm is that there is no need for us to wait in line! On my first visit to Wild Honey, my friends and I had to wait sooooo long to be seated because there were just so many people! I think it was a 30-45min wait if I'm not wrong. After that, there was also another time when I wanted to dine at Wild Honey but we were told to expect a long wait so in the end, we gave up waiting and ate at Jones the Grocer instead!

So, one of the perks of going there at an odd timing (3pm instead of 12pm) is that there is no waiting involved and we could even pick our seats! (:

We sat right in the middle of the cafe, on a very cute couch!

Very comfy and perfect for two!

Here are more photos of the interior of Wild Honey those people who have not been there yet!

Our table!

We were both so hungry because it was late so we placed our orders immediately!

First up, really good lattes!

We ordered 2 dishes to share - We couldn't ordered too much food because it was just the both of us and the portions are pretty big!

English ($22) - Their big breakfast basically - Scrambled eggs, pork sausages, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, bacon and roasted tomatoes.

I love big breakfasts because there's everything on the plate! Loved the scrambled eggs! They were soft and creamy and oh so delicious! The bacon was great too because it wasn't too crispy or hard. The sausages were delicious as well! And the bread was fantastic!!!! It was so thick yet soft! I don't usually finish up the bread but I did for this because it was so good! The only thing I didn't really like was the beans because I don't really like to eat beans generally and I found them to be too hard.

I really enjoyed this plate!

Tunisian - Red pepper, onion, tomato stew, sliced chorizo sausage and 2 fried eggs in a sizzling pan!
It definitely looks appetizing!
It's something new I must say, because I've never tried anything like it before and it was very nice! GD really enjoyed it, he finished it all up!!!

That's all we ordered, but I'm just going to post some picture Tiff took when she went to Wild Honey on a separate occasion!

This is _______________. I don't know what this is, Tiff maybe you can fill it in for me! (:

European - Poached eggs, sauteed mushrooms and prosciutto on homemade brioche with hollandaise sauce!

I don't know what this is either! But it sure looks good!

Price:
$16-$24 for the breakfasts

The Meal:
Delicious meal! GD said that it reminded him of Perth, which is a good thing!!! (:

The Ambience:
Lovely place, decor and ambience. It was very homely and cosy!

The Service:
Pretty friendly and helpful staff!

Overall:
Definitely a good place to go to if you are craving for a hearty breakfast.

Address:
1) #03-02 Mandarin Gallery, Orchard Road, Singapore

2) A second outlet is opening soon! Very soon in fact, on the 12th of Nov! (Exciting!!!)
This new outlet is going to be at Scotts Square!

The address is:

This outlet at Scotts Square is able to take reservations, so do call to make a reservation before going down if you want to avoid a lengthy wait! (:
