Blue Duck

Hello my dear friends!!! Gosh, it's been ages since Tiff and I posted anything on this blog! We're so terrible!!! Please forgive us (:

Haha, okay anyway, how have you guys been? Tiff and I have been having lots of fun travelling (not together though :( ) because its the winter break and school's out! (:

So today I'm going to blog about this cafe that Tiff and I went to the day before I flew off to Melbourne. It was also the last day of Tiff's exams!

After Tiff's paper, we headed down to Blue Duck at Cottesloe. It's just by the beach and here's the view from our table.

Gorgeous isn't it?

We made it just in time for breakfast (Phew)!!!

While waiting for our food to arrive...

Our food came really quick (Yay!) because there weren't many patrons at Blue Duck at that time.
The both of us ordered lattes - they came with really nice biscuits!!!!!!!

We ordered the Bruschetta - Spanish style baked beans, chorizo, fried egg, smoked paprika, crusty sour dough baguette and wild rocket. Sounds fantastic right? Well, it tasted awesome! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the chorizo was delicious and I love rocket! There were way tooooo much beans though. I suppose that's because I'm not a very big fan of beans.

We also ordered Buttermilk pancakes with stewed red berries and whipped mascarpone (There must always be something sweet at the end of the meal!)
It was such a pity however, that both dishes arrived at the same time, and by the time we ate the pancakes, it was already cold and some parts of it weren't totally cooked! (SIGH). Too bad.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed our brunch (:
After our meal, we took some photos before heading back to my house to PACK! (Urgh)
Anyway, this is the alfresco dining area of Blue Duck. If you ever dine at Blue Duck, please sit outside!

How I miss Perth's lovely beaches!!!! :(

While settling the bill at the cashier, we saw blue ducks for sale - cute!

 This is the entrance:

I am going to miss hanging out and camwhoring with you in Perth Tiff!!!! Love you!!!

♥♥♥

Price:
$15 - $24 for Mains (Breakfast)
$19 - $42 for Mains (Lunch)
$19 - $42 for Mains (Dinner)

The Meal:
The lattes and bruschetta were good, but the pancakes were kind of a let down.

The Ambience:
Need I say more? (:

The Service:
The staff were really friendly and nice. Service was prompt as well!

Overall:
We really enjoyed the experience, but a large part of it was because of the view, haha!

Tomorrow's Friday! Have a great weekend guys! (:

Atomic

Hey guys,  it's me again!
Decided to do another entry since I've been a lazy blogger! :D

Just last week, Huiyi and I decided to go for breakfast somewhere around her place. At first we were thinking of walking around to check some cafes out, but as usual, we were hungry and just wanted to sit down and eat something ASAP!

So, we decided on Atomic at Claremont Quarter! :)

Atomic is one of the new cafes that has just opened up in Claremont Quarter. It was a weekday morning/afternoon, but the place was quite crowded! There were a lot of stylish looking middle aged people who were dressed really well, so we enjoyed the people watching whilst we were there!!

Anyway, this is what we ordered! A Norwegian.
Basically it's just like an Eggs Atlantic/Eggs Florentine - bread, smoked salmon, spinach and two poached eggs to top it off

The Norwegian was quite a disappointment! The salmon was wayyyy too salty and the hollandaise sauce was too thick and too yellow. So we didn't really enjoy this dish. :(

We also ordered their pancakes!
The pancakes came with some strawberries and I think some preserved apples?
Not too sure what they were, but Huiyi didn't like the 'apples'. But I really liked them! :D
However, I really did not like the pancakes! They didn't look very appealing and the taste was not very good either :/
So this was yet another disappointment!

And of course, we ordered our coffees as well!
Here's my flat white

And Huiyi's usual - Latte

Here's Huiyi! :)

And me!
Please ignore the tired face -_-!!

ps we also saw a very interesting old man! He had a leopard print cowboy hat on, a fancy blue scarf and a pretty pearl necklace. haha!! He was quite a sight to behold..! :D

Price:
The breakfast menu ranges from about $12- $20
The cost of our meal - 2 dishes and 2 drinks was $40

The Meal:
Definitely a let down! So many other better breakfast places in Perth!

The Ambience:

The location of the cafe is really good and the place has a nice vibe to it!

The Service:
Service was really average, and I didn't think the lady at the counter was very friendly.

Overall:
The food wasn't really good, but because of the convenience of the location, I may go there again! But perhaps, I wouldn't order the Norwegian again.

Feel free to leave some comments or let us know about any great places that you've been to and would like us to review on our blog! :)

Lots of love,
Tiff

The Walk Cafe

Hi everyone! Sorry it has been AGES since we last blogged...have really been busy! Was away for the mid-sem break...and Huiyi was also busy doing who knows what! LOL.

Anyway, just this afternoon, Huiyi, Cheryl and I decided to go for our usual Wednesday lunch! And not surprisingly, Cheryl was once again the guru, suggesting that we try out The Walk Cafe at Subiaco!

At the Walk Cafe!

Left to right: Huiyi and Cheryl :)

The inside of the Cafe! They have both indoor and alfresco dining, but we decided to sit inside! The place is quite pretty and cosy, nice for a delicious breakfast, simple lunch or delightful dinner :)

Took quite a while to decide on what to order...but finally decided on...

The Linguine with cauliflower, spinach and mushrooms served in a creamy white wine sauce

This dish was not on the actual menu, but was under "Wednesday's Specials" on the board! Even though there was no meat, the dish was really really yummy! The sauce was just perfect! Not too creamy but also not too watery, and the mushrooms were just divine! :)
The dish was actually our favourite of the three dishes we ordered!

The next thing we ordered was actually what we decided to call, "The Lot" which included Baked Beans, bread, poached eggs, chipolatas and had actually come with a grilled tomato which we swapped for more mushrooms! As you can probably guess, yes, we love mushrooms!!!

However, this dish was quite a disappointment! There was really a lot of baked beans, the poached eggs were TOO well done, the bread was ok, the only things that were pretty nice were the sausages and mushrooms! But overall, wouldn't go back and order this dish again.

And our last dish was Blueberry pancakes with double cream and maple syrup!

I think this dish definitely looks better than it tastes! I guess it could have tasted nice, but we saved it for last, so by the time we started eating it, it was already quite cold. :( However, I also found that the pancakes were quite dense and not light and fluffy! The good thing about it was the delicious double cream that accompanied the pancakes and the crazy amount of maple syrup everywhere!!!:D:D:D

The outside of The Walk Cafe!
It was pretty crowded for a Wednesday afternoon.

The both of us!

All three of us outside the Cafe.
It's always fun when you're with great company! :):):)

Price:
$15-$25 for each main
Our total bill was $57 for the three dishes

The Meal:
The Linguine was definitely yummy, but the other dishes fell short of our expectations. But overall, it was still pretty good and will definitely go back!

The Ambience:
The place is pretty and would also be a nice place for dinner!

The Service:
Our French waiter was pretty cute and had nice eyes and a nice smile...Haha. Very charming!!!Lol. So yes, service definitely gets more donuts!

Overall:
All in all, the food was nice, the place was relaxed and cosy and the service was pretty good.
