Antoinette - Mandarin Gallery

Hi guys! This is going to be the first post on a restaurant in Singapore! Tiff came back to SG to attend a wedding so the 3 of us (Tiff, Loo and I) met up for a lovely lunch plus a very lengthy catch up session (:

Here are some (kind of lousy) photos of the interior of Antoinette:

Lots of ladies!

Opps, unflattering photo of this woman. Haha

Alright, now lets just go straight to the food shall we?

The three of us were famished by the time we got there so we wasted no time ordering. Loo came up with a very systematic way of deciding what to eat and soon, we were ready to order!

I was craving for some breakfast so we ordered......................Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon!!! (Our all time favourite!)

I'm sorry my pictures look abit grainy and weird - The lighting in the restaurant was quite dim so my photos weren't very clear! So anyway, I thought the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon were really tasty, and the toast was delicious - crispy yet soft, if you know what I mean. I would definitely go back there for this dish. YUM!

We also ordered a savory pancake - Fluffy pancakes with mushroom ragout and bacon.

This dish was just average. The mushroom ragout was kind of non-existent. The sauce was thin, very liquid and quite tasteless! I guess we expected something rich and creamy, so we were all quite disappointed at how it turned out to be like. Nevertheless, the pancakes were nice!

We ordered another dish - Crepe with paris ham and sunny side up but, I'm so sorry to tell you guys that I forgot to snap a photo of it!!! Urgh!!! I'm so so sorry! I think I was too engrossed in the conversation (and the actual eating of the food), that's why I forgot to take a photo of the crepe!!! :(
But I have to say that the crepe was nice, it was filled with paris ham (salty the way I like it), served with a beautiful sunny side up in the middle and a generous amount of green salad scattered on top.

Oh yes, we ordered lattes as well and we really enjoyed it!

After our meal, we all felt that we still had space in our tummies for dessert, so we went on to order 2 desserts!!!

This is Violette, what a pretty name!

I was very intrigued by it's description so I couldn't wait to try it. It had a really unique flowery taste which was very pleasant, but I didn't like the texture of the cake because it was quite dry and hard.

I preferred the next dessert - Mont Blanc, doesn't it look very interesting?

It's basically some kind of almond tart and it was good. Impossible for 1 person to finish but great for sharing!

So after consuming three main courses and two desserts, we left Antoinette with exploding tummies.

Pretty ladies! Really look forward to hanging out in SG again! (:

Good Fortune Roast Duck House

Can't believe it's taken me this long to write a post about Good Fortune!

Anyway, the other night, Chris and I were too lazy to cook dinner/didn't have any food at home to cook.. so we decided to head to Good Fortune for some yummy roast duck! :)
The place is pretty small and usually quite crowded but when we went, we were lucky enough to get a table pretty fast! Sometimes you may even have to end up sharing the table with some unknown strangers if it is too crowded! :/

Chris waiting eagerly for our food to arrive!

Chris's milk tea

My lemon drink...which tasted just like lemon + water. haha

We ordered one serving of roast pork... YUMMAYY!!!!!! :D:D:D

AND!!! Half a roast duck!!! heh heh heh!!
Anyway, normally when you order half a roast duck, they will ask you if you want the boneless or bone(y) one! I much prefer the boneless though because it means more breast meat!! Haha.

And that was me with all our food!!!

Apart from just roast duck and roast pork, the restaurant also serves roast chicken...and some other roasted meat I think! Also, they have a whole lot of other items on their dinner and lunch menu!

Their website has all the items that they have on their menu:

Price:
Half roast duck (boneless) : $20
Half roast duck: $19

The Meal:
The food was definitely yummy as usual. Really think that Good Fortune has one of the best roast ducks! I feel that some places have very ducky..ducks? Haha. But Good Fortune's roast duck doesn't have that strong duck flavour! On top of that, the meat is so tender and juicy! Ooh, also! Their chilli sauce is so so nice and they always give bowls of extra sauce on the side, so that's great as well!

The Ambience:
The usual Northbridge feel...haha!

The Service:
Not very good actually...they are not very polite or friendly but at least they are pretty efficient and the food comes fast!

Overall:
I guess when I head to Northbridge for a Chinese dinner, I am not really looking for a place to dress up for or to enjoy the ambience, so as long as the food is good, I am very happy!! Good Fortune definitely meets my expectations in that aspect! :)

Address:
344 William Street
Northbridge WA 6003

Tel:
(08) 9228 3293

Opening Hours:
Wednesday to Monday: 10am-10pm
Closed on Tuesdays

The restaurant also does take away, so you can call in advance to order and just pick it up at your specified time :)

That's it!!!

Tiff

The Little Pantry

Hi everyone!!!I know that it is has been TERRIBLY long since I last wrote an entry...but yay I'm back!!!
Without Huiyi in Perth with me, there has been little motivation to go try new places, let alone blog about anything! :/I've been going back to the same old boring places, thus the lack of updates!

However, just last week, I decided that I HAVE to start trying more new places since this is my final semester! Huiyi is back in Singapore and once I'm back there, I promise that we will continue to try brand new places and blog about them! :) I'm excited to go back to Singapore, but I've definitely enjoyed all the fun times that I've had in Perth, going to new places and trying out new food! Hope that you guys have enjoyed reading our blog and trying some of the places that we've reviewed, and if there are any places that you guys can recommend for us to try (in Perth or Singapore), just let us know! :) Thank you guys for all the love and support...and here's our new post below!

After lecture last week I was famished (and fab..LOL!) and so decided to try The Little Pantry with Wathone. Did not know exactly where it was, but I knew it was in the Subiaco area after checking out some reviews online.

The cafe was small and cosy and had a really nice feel to it!

When we arrived, it was relatively empty, but as we had our meal there, more and more people came and I was surprised at how good their business was!

Wathone posing with the candlestick that she found on the shelf right next to her! haha. This girl loves props! LOL!

Shamelessly taking photos in the cafe...

Our coffees! A latte and mocha.

Us with our coffees! So weird that it was so bright outside...it was raining heavily!

This is the chicken parmigiana and it tasted...

AMAZING!!!

So much better than it looks! Wasn't expecting much from it because it was just one of those sandwiches that was sitting in the fridge..and when we went..at about 2.30pm, there wasn't much choice left, so we were stuck either ordering this or the roast beef! So I asked the waiter and he said he personally preferred this, so I went with his choice...and it was sooo delicious!! So so tasty, warm and oh-so-yummy!

We also ordered dessert! This was the chocolate and pear cake. Gosh I'm salivating just thinking about it! Wasn't much of a looker as well, but it was soo moist and crazy delicious!

This was our coconut and lemon tart! YUMMAY! The tart was a mix of sweet and sour and had delicious bits of grated coconut, so there was a lovely texture to it! But personally, I preferred the chocolate and pear cake!

The outside of The Little Pantry! It is so quaint and adorable! :)
We left the place feeling very stuffed and satisfied!

The Price:
$10-$15 per main
$3.50-$4.00 for coffees

The Meal:
Really good, loved it!

The Ambience:
The place was small and inviting! Tres chic!

The Service:
Service was alright, not particularly friendly, not rude...but at least the barrister was hot! Lol.

Overall:
Overall, it was a really nice experience and it was definitely a cute little place! They did have a good selection of cakes, but would have been even better if the service was a tad bit better and there was a better range of savoury food items!

Address:
206 Nicholson Road
Subiaco, 6008

Tel:
(08) 9388 8780

Opening Hours:
Mon-Sat: 7am-5pm
Sun: 8am-2pm

That's it!!!

Blue Duck

Hello my dear friends!!! Gosh, it's been ages since Tiff and I posted anything on this blog! We're so terrible!!! Please forgive us (:

Haha, okay anyway, how have you guys been? Tiff and I have been having lots of fun travelling (not together though :( ) because its the winter break and school's out! (:

So today I'm going to blog about this cafe that Tiff and I went to the day before I flew off to Melbourne. It was also the last day of Tiff's exams!

After Tiff's paper, we headed down to Blue Duck at Cottesloe. It's just by the beach and here's the view from our table.

Gorgeous isn't it?

We made it just in time for breakfast (Phew)!!!

While waiting for our food to arrive...

Our food came really quick (Yay!) because there weren't many patrons at Blue Duck at that time.
The both of us ordered lattes - they came with really nice biscuits!!!!!!!

We ordered the Bruschetta - Spanish style baked beans, chorizo, fried egg, smoked paprika, crusty sour dough baguette and wild rocket. Sounds fantastic right? Well, it tasted awesome! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the chorizo was delicious and I love rocket! There were way tooooo much beans though. I suppose that's because I'm not a very big fan of beans.

We also ordered Buttermilk pancakes with stewed red berries and whipped mascarpone (There must always be something sweet at the end of the meal!)
It was such a pity however, that both dishes arrived at the same time, and by the time we ate the pancakes, it was already cold and some parts of it weren't totally cooked! (SIGH). Too bad.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed our brunch (:
After our meal, we took some photos before heading back to my house to PACK! (Urgh)
Anyway, this is the alfresco dining area of Blue Duck. If you ever dine at Blue Duck, please sit outside!

How I miss Perth's lovely beaches!!!! :(

While settling the bill at the cashier, we saw blue ducks for sale - cute!

 This is the entrance:

I am going to miss hanging out and camwhoring with you in Perth Tiff!!!! Love you!!!

♥♥♥

Price:
$15 - $24 for Mains (Breakfast)
$19 - $42 for Mains (Lunch)
$19 - $42 for Mains (Dinner)

The Meal:
The lattes and bruschetta were good, but the pancakes were kind of a let down.

The Ambience:
Need I say more? (:

The Service:
The staff were really friendly and nice. Service was prompt as well!

Overall:
We really enjoyed the experience, but a large part of it was because of the view, haha!

Tomorrow's Friday! Have a great weekend guys! (:

♥

Huiyi
