Lemon Lane

Hi guys! It's me again!!! We've been very efficient lately and we plan to keep this up *cross fingers*, so here's another entry!

Last Thursday, before Tiff came over to my house to study, we met at Claremont for lunch. We decided to try  one of the many cafes in Claremont that we've never dined at before. That was how we ended up dining at Lemon Lane.

I did some research about Lemon Lane and I found out some really interesting stuff! Lemon Lane is part of Lemon Cafes Pty Ltd. Lemon started out as Lemon Espresso (also in Claremont) and then came Lemon Lane (Claremont), Lemon Station (Cottesloe) and Lemon Espresso @ Hkew Alpha (hKew Alpha business precinct at Perth domestic airport). Wow, I didn't know that it was such a big enterprise. You can visit their website - http://www.lemoncafes.com.au/ for more information about Lemon Pty Ltd!

So anyway, after peering into the display cabinet for a very long time (Tiff and I are known for our indecisiveness), we finally decided on what to order.

We sat outside again - I really like sitting outside.
And we sat on high stols at a high table! Haha, 2 short girls on very high stools!

Love the graffiti on the wall!

Hello, men in cafe posing for a photo! LOL

What I really like about Australia (and especially in areas like Claremont and Subiaco) is that people make an effort to dress up! Look at the lady and her son, they look so cute together. Really love his outfit!
It's nice how everyone always look so sharp and put together.

So anyway, the both of us ordered lattes, but our lattes had different foam designs!

I didn't use to be a coffee person but after 3 years in Perth, I've begun to enjoy drinking coffee! The main reason is because the coffee in Perth is just SO good.

We also ordered a ham and cheese croissant. It was alright, not fantastic. I've tasted better ones at other cafes in Perth.

The other thing we ordered was the Roast Beef Sandwich.
But before showing you the photo of the Roasted Beef Sandwich, I have to tell you the story behind it:
After our food arrived, Tiff and I started taking photos of/with the food!

Here's Tiff with the Ham Cheese Croissant

And me with the Roast Beef Sandwich

So right after that picture was taken, the WORST THING EVER happened!
To my horror, the baguette started to slide off the plate!!! So naturally, I tried to catch it with my other hand but it bounced off my hand and landed on the floor! :( :( :(
In true fabandfamished fashion, Tiff and I started laughing and she had to hop off her high stool to pick it up because it fell onto her side. While she was doing so, I was thinking to myself, "CRAP, I've just dropped $6 worth of sandwich (the whole thing cost $12) and it cannot be consumed anymore!"
But surprisingly, when Tiff picked it up, the Beef Sandwich was still complete! It fell on its butt/base/bottom and NOTHING fell out of the baguette!!!
So we decided that we should just clean it's bottom and eat it still.
So here's me cleaning the baguette.

Tiff suggested that we share the dirty half because she didn't mind. That was really sweet of her! (:
However, in the end I decided that I should eat the dirty half because well, I was the one who dropped it after all!
So after cleaning it, we ate the sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! (: The baguette was so nice and soft and the beef was very tender! I don't regret eating it at all!

Please don't judge us for wanting to eat the baguette even though it dropped on the floor. It was very expensive so it would have been such a waste not to eat it! LOL. I hope you don't think it was disgusting, we choose to refer to it as professionalism haha

Here's the Roast Beef Sandwich by the way - the relish that came with it was very nice too. It tasted like some kind of chutney.

Yup, so that's all for Lemon Lane, I hope you guys enjoyed reading it! (:

Price:
Ham and Cheese Croissant: $8.50
Most sandwiches: $12

The Meal:
The sandwich and coffee were really good. But the croissant was just average.

The Ambience:
It was nice to sit on high chairs and people watch (:

The Service:

Friendly staff, we didn't really need much service so it's kind of hard to rate it.

Overall:
Sorry, my ratings are damn boring and average today. But I guess that it's because Lemon Lane is a nice cafe, but it's not very fantastic. I would go back there, but it's not on the top of my list.

Etro Cafe Bistro

Hi guys! It's 10.24am now and I'm sitting here blogging while having a bowl of coco pops! Perfect (:
Since I've only got 1 paper left (Yes, last paper of my Uni life!), and it's not till Tuesday, I've got some time on my hands to blog.
A couple of weeks ago, on the last day of school, Cheryl, Tiff and I decided to have lunch at Etro Cafe Bistro. Cheryl, our cafe guru, recommended Etro so we decided to give it a shot! Etro is situated along King Street, Perth, and there are lots of cafes around that area as well.

Look up www.etro.net.au
Their website is quite nice!

We were sitting outside because it was SO CROWDED inside. So the next few photos are just the view from where we were sitting! Sorry, we didn't take photos of the inside of the cafe :(

First, we ordered some organic juices. Each of us ordered one flavour - Cheryl ordered the Guava and Apple, Tiff chose the Orange, Mango and Apple and I had the Mango, Passion and Apple.
They are officially my favourite juices! You've really got to try them!

Us pouring our juice, haha

Our food came next. We were too late for breakfast so we had lunch.
We had to order from a board because their lunch special changes daily/weekly!

First we ordered a Caesar Salad with our all time favourite Smoked Salmon! We loved it because it was delicious! The only downside is that it was quite pricey.

Next up, Creamy Fettuccine with Chicken and Mushroom! Sounds yum?

Yum indeed!
The cream sauce was light and fresh, so it didn't make us feel sick of eating it after a while. We ordered a large portion and managed to finish the whole thing!

We also ordered a risotto with seared scallops wrapped in prosciutto. While ordering Cheryl wisely proclaimed, "Who can resist seared scallops wrapped in prosciutto?"
And I have to say that I, and I'm sure Tiff as well, agree with her.

Here we are! Salivating (although you cannot see it), and all ready to tuck in!!!!

Tiff (:

After lunch we went to Cheryl's house to chill. Her house is looks like it came straight out from a magazine or someone's tumblr. Love it! Feast your eyes on the next few photos! (:

Alot of the items in her house were bought from OP shops and they were really cheap (think $1, $2 cheap)!!! Some of them were even free!

Tiff and I love the drapes in front of her room. There were sewn together by her housemate's mum and hung up by her housemate's dad!

 Aww, fairy lights!

Phototaking with the lovely host! (:

Alright, it's time to stop blogging now. I shall end off with stackable teacups! (:
Bye!

P.S I'm going to meet Tiff and Wathone at Subi later for some Tom Yum Fried Rice! Have you tried it yet? (:

Price:
Juice: $5
Meal: Averaging at about $20
Check out the menu on the website for more information (:

The Meal:
We really enjoyed the food! We'll definitely go back there for another meal!

The Ambience:
The weather was awesome for alfresco dining and King Street is a pretty street so yes to ambience! Not sure how's it's like sitting inside though!

The Service:
Very friendly and attentive staff!

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience! We definitely recommend Etro! If you don't feel like eating, you have to at least get some juice alright? (:

Atomic

Hey guys,  it's me again!
Decided to do another entry since I've been a lazy blogger! :D

Just last week, Huiyi and I decided to go for breakfast somewhere around her place. At first we were thinking of walking around to check some cafes out, but as usual, we were hungry and just wanted to sit down and eat something ASAP!

So, we decided on Atomic at Claremont Quarter! :)

Atomic is one of the new cafes that has just opened up in Claremont Quarter. It was a weekday morning/afternoon, but the place was quite crowded! There were a lot of stylish looking middle aged people who were dressed really well, so we enjoyed the people watching whilst we were there!!

Anyway, this is what we ordered! A Norwegian.
Basically it's just like an Eggs Atlantic/Eggs Florentine - bread, smoked salmon, spinach and two poached eggs to top it off

The Norwegian was quite a disappointment! The salmon was wayyyy too salty and the hollandaise sauce was too thick and too yellow. So we didn't really enjoy this dish. :(

We also ordered their pancakes!
The pancakes came with some strawberries and I think some preserved apples?
Not too sure what they were, but Huiyi didn't like the 'apples'. But I really liked them! :D
However, I really did not like the pancakes! They didn't look very appealing and the taste was not very good either :/
So this was yet another disappointment!

And of course, we ordered our coffees as well!
Here's my flat white

And Huiyi's usual - Latte

Here's Huiyi! :)

And me!
Please ignore the tired face -_-!!

ps we also saw a very interesting old man! He had a leopard print cowboy hat on, a fancy blue scarf and a pretty pearl necklace. haha!! He was quite a sight to behold..! :D

Price:
The breakfast menu ranges from about $12- $20
The cost of our meal - 2 dishes and 2 drinks was $40

The Meal:
Definitely a let down! So many other better breakfast places in Perth!

The Ambience:

The location of the cafe is really good and the place has a nice vibe to it!

The Service:
Service was really average, and I didn't think the lady at the counter was very friendly.

Overall:
The food wasn't really good, but because of the convenience of the location, I may go there again! But perhaps, I wouldn't order the Norwegian again.

Feel free to leave some comments or let us know about any great places that you've been to and would like us to review on our blog! :)

Lots of love,
Tiff
