Boubar

Headed to Boubar a couple weeks ago on a lovely Wednesday morning! Recommended by Cheryl (yes, she's the cafe guru!!), Boubar was a lovely place for a delicious breakfast!

Boubar has a really nice relaxed vibe to it, and you can see from the picture that there was lovely light streaming into cafe!

The drinks we ordered that came in lovely glasses/cups/metal cylindrical containers? Can't seem to find the right word for it. Haha. But anyway, the colours look so nice together!
Can't really remember what drinks we ordered, but I think they were both ice coffees.

That's Huiyi with Cheryl "the guru"!

And myself our friend Estella :)

Here's the food!!! This was the Eggs Atlantic that is similar to the classic Eggs Benedict, but the ham is replaced by smoke salmon instead! The sauce was absolutely divine!

The Eggs Ben was yummy as well!
Personally though, I think the Eggs Atlantic was better, so do try it if you like smoked salmon!

And last but not least, we also ordered the bagel accompanied with smoked salmon on the side.

The entrance to Boubar!

Price: About $15 for a main

The Meal:
Enjoyed the meal! But wouldn't say that it's the best that I've tried.

The Ambience:
Really liked Boubar's laidback feel to it and that it felt comfortable and inviting.

The Service:
Not bad, but not memorable either.

Overall:
We both really enjoyed our breakfast at Boubar very much, but maybe we just really love breakfast that's why! Haha. But the food and ambience was really nice and its definitely recommended, especially if you live nearby!

Tiamo Cafe Restaurant

After a long tiring day...(at the beach, haha!), we were really craving some good chili mussels! So we decided to head to Tiamo. We've been to Tiamo before and their chili mussels have never let us down, so we went there again this time looking forward to it!

Tiamo is situated in the heart of Nedlands and is just a walk away from the University of Western Australia. It offers a variety of Western food that includes pastas, main courses and even has quite a good breakfast and tea-time menu!

YAY! Eagerly waiting for our meal to be served!
That's Chris again, a famous face on our blog! Haha

This is the both of us! The faces behind Fab and Famished. :)

We ordered a large serving of the chili mussels. The mussels were very big! And also very fresh, which made it so very yummy! And there was so much sauce for us to dip our garlic bread in. As you can see, from our post at Ciao Italia, we are a fan of chili mussels and garlic bread. Haha. Didn't manage to get a picture of the garlic bread though, think we were too excited about eating.

We also ordered the Carbonara which we loved. This is Huiyi's all-time favourite carbonara! The pasta is just perfect and the sauce and mushrooms and everything put together is heaven!!!

Next was the Linguine alla Tiamo. We liked it, but didn't love it. It had a bit of an Asian flavour in the pasta, and we don't really enjoy western food that tastes Asian!

Here's Chris and Loo, who joined us for the meal and whom you'll will probably see a lot more of in posts to come!

Good food and good company = a great night out!

Price: Mains are priced between $15-$20

The Meal:
Portions were a little too large, so we couldn't really finish everything. But all in all, very yummy!

The Ambience:
Tiamo offers both indoor and alfresco dining and exudes a relaxed, cosy vibe.

The Service:
The food came quite fast, but the waitress that served us wasn't very friendly. In fact, she seemed very spaced-out and a little strange!

Overall:
All in all, we had a great meal at Tiamo!

John Street Cafe

One afternoon after lecture, we found ourselves asking that same question again, "what shall we have for lunch?".  Then, our friend, Cheryl, suggested that we go to John Street Cafe, which is near Cottesloe beach. So of course  we agreed excitedly because we love checking out new food places!!!

When we first saw the cafe we all went "Ooooh!!" because it was such a cute little place! We don't have wide shots of the cafe but here are just a couple of photos we took.

We ordered our drinks first and they were really good!

The latte.

Mocha.

and Flat White!

Brunch!

First up, Salmon Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was perfectly made and the bread/toast was soft in the middle and crispy on the sides. Our friend Chris, ate and liked this dish even though he was a non-salmon eater. This shows something doesn't it? The only sad part is that the egg yolk wasn't runny as how it should be.

Next, the Eggs Benedict! It was very yummy as well!

Our last dish was The Lot. It's basically the big breakfast, complete with eggs (whichever way you want it), bacon, hash brown, chipotle sausages, tomato and toast! What we love about this dish is that the hash brown was SUPERB! It's not your traditional crispy, oily, deep fried hash brown. This hash brown is baked! (Way healthier) Not only that, the insides of the harsh brown consists of a combination of mashed potatoes, chives, corn, pepper and other unidentifiable ingredients. I have to say that this is one of the best hash browns we've ever tasted!

Alright, enough about the food, here are some pictures of us! Haha

The girl in the middle is Cheryl, she's the one who brought us here!

Here's Chris, he LOVES Eggs Ben!

Well, that was a happy meal, all of us left that place with rounder tummies and silly grins (:

Price: $15-$25

The meal:
Loved it!

The ambience:
Alfresco dining with some view of the sea can never go wrong! However, it will be best when the weather is good.

The service:
They were very helpful and friendly, plus, the barista was really cute!

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely go back again!

Ciao Italia

Ciao Italia is one of the most popular Italian Restaurants in Perth. It is always crowded, even on a weekday! However, it is definitely worth the wait!
So we headed down to Ciao one Tuesday because we were craving for good Italian food and after the long wait, we finally sat down and ordered our usuals.

The garlic bread. It's delicious! Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. One of the things we like most about it is the generous amount of garlic spread on the bread.

Chilli Mussels!!! The mere thought of it makes us salivate! We were both not big fans of mussels until after eating the chilli mussels in Perth. The mussels were big, fresh, and the combination of the tomato based sauce with chilli is awesome! Yums! (Oh yes! Remember to dip your garlic bread into the chilli mussel sauce!)

Ciao Italia's signature dish-The Ciao Italia! Haha.
This pasta dish is our personal favourite! Creamy fettuccine with sun-dried tomatos and chicken strips.

The other pasta dish that we ordered was also another creamy dish-Carbonara with bacon!
It was also really good!

Even though the meal was great, most of us were really looking forward to dessert! That's because the Tiramisu from Ciao is to die for! As usual, it didn't disappoint!!!

Well, this is a not-so-nice photo of the kitchen, but that's the only one we have.

Us and our friends while waiting for a table (Outside Ciao)

Price: $14 to $27.50

The meal:
It was wonderful!

The ambience:
The decor, music and the way the tables and chairs were placed made us feel like we were in Italy. The only downside is that it is too cramped

The service:
LOVE the service at Ciao! The waiters and waitresses are so friendly! Armed with mega-watt smiles on their faces, they are always happy to help and engage in small talk.

Overall:
2 thumbs up! There's a reason why it is always crowded.

Address:

Opening hours:
Tues-Sat 5-10pm

Red Rooster

Red Rooster is one of our favourite fast food outlets ever!!! Love it non-stop!!!
Anyway, went to Garden City one day to shop and when we walked to the food court, we both automatically walked towards the Red Rooster counter. haha.

We ordered our usual to share, which is a 3piece chicken strips meal that comes together with a regular serving of fries and a soft drink.

This is the 3 piece chicken strips that we ordered! Yums!

Their fries that is always so crispy yet soft and also very salty. (THE WAY WE LIKE IT)

Chicken strips!

Can't live without chilli sauce! Life would be so meaningless.

Happy with our meal :)

Price: About $10 for the meal

The meal:
They are actually more famous for their chicken pieces that their strips, but we are fans of their strips!

The ambience:
None? But it doesn't really matter when you're having something THAT good! LOL. And I guess when you're just eating at the food court anyway.

The service:
Can't really remember actually!

Overall:
Very good! That's why we keep going back!!!
